Jose is the founder of Buck & Beard Barbershop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  What started as a passion for the craft of classic barbering grew into a shop built on one simple idea: every client should leave looking sharp and feeling amazing. With a talented eye for hair and beard grooming and a love for where industrial-modern design meets the old-school barbershop experience, Jose brought to life a home for precision cuts, clean beard work, and unique style.

When he's not behind the chair, he's focused on making Buck & Beard the kind of place the neighborhood is proud to call its own.

But the story of how Buck & Beard came to be is one Jose never planned.In 2016, opening his own business was the furthest thing from his mind. He didn't have the savings for it, and honestly, he wasn't ready to take that kind of life-changing step. Ken, the owner of the building Jose had his eye on, had already floated the idea—he'd bought the property a couple of years earlier and was deep into remodeling it, transforming a former tax-collecting agency office into something modern and full of new life. The offer was on the table, but the timing never felt right.Then, in March 2016, everything changed. Jose's father, Jose C. Lima Sr., passed away unexpectedly.

Jose traveled to Mexico to bury him, carrying the weight of that loss along with the uncertainty of what came next. While he was there, he confided in his mother, telling her about his life in Florida and the opportunity Ken had offered him.Her answer was simple and certain. She told Jose to call Ken, take the offer, and sign the lease. His father had left some money behind, she said, and Jose could put it toward his savings to open the shop. In that moment, what had felt impossible became his path forward—a way to honor his dad and build something of his own.Jose signed the lease that May, and on October 4th, 2016, Buck & Beard opened its doors for the first time.
